The DGT network can allow for a variety of architectures that are customizable for private networks. In the case of public networks or networks for ecosystems, a hybrid H-Net structure is proposed. Its main features include:
The network combines several segments of different access types. This includes several private segments controlled by consortium participants, as well as a public segment.
The joining of nodes to private segments is controlled through a certificate mechanism adapted for decentralized use.
Nodes interact with the network through gateways and cluster intersections are not allowed. Each node belongs to one and only one segment.
Nodes have different roles. In addition to the typical validators, leaders, and arbitrators, such roles as Notary are added – which interacts with off-chain operations, as well as Gateway – which interacts with other networks.
